The urban district of Devínska Nová Ves still lacks a public space that could be described as a central square. To change this situation, MIB, in cooperation with the city district, came up with a plan to create such a space, through an architectural competition, that would serve the residents of the entire city district as well as the many visitors who come here.

At the same time, a solution to the parking situation will be developed as part of the competition. The addressed central public space consists of the areas along Eisner Street adjacent to the Church of the Holy Spirit and the supermarket.

A new central square is to be created in Devínska Nová Ves. There will also be a new underground car park with approximately 100 parking spaces in it. The municipal district approached MIB to organize an architectural competition concerning the grounds around the Church of the Holy Spirit with the cemetery on Eisnerova Street. Currently, part of the area is used for transit purposes and part is unused open space.

Part of the planned solution is the revitalization of the area and the creation of a multi-purpose public space with plenty of greenery, where it will be possible to organize various cultural activities, which so far could only happen in makeshift conditions. The public space should thus fulfil a recreational function, but also a strong cultural function during events. Small-scale architecture can complement the surrounding infrastructure (supermarket, church) with leisure facilities such as cafés, shops or markets. The construction of an underground car park under the multi-purpose square will help to improve the parking situation for the inhabitants of Devínska Nová Ves.
