Removal of barriers, citylight vitrines, planting new greenery and adding lighting helped to create a clearer a clearer and safer public space.

After revitalisation

The public space in question at the Karadžičova-Krížna meeting point is located close to the Krížna bus stop. This is a small part of the exposed public space, which people use mainly to get to the bus stop or to access nearby buildings. The site has the potential to be more welcoming and safer. Removal of barriers and citylight vitrines, planting new greenery and adding lighting helped to create a clearer and safer space.

Emphasis was placed mainly on the ease of access in the area and respecting the natural pedestrian routes, which was solved by a gravel walkway. The original turf was replaced using perennial plants, which will be a greener alternative for the area during the dry months. The planting has been designed to be attractive throughout the year.

Street furniture was added to the space – a trash can and seating corresponding to the design of the renovated space on Karadžičova Street near the Akt Ženy fountain. Lighting was also added to the site, which has been missing until now, making the area safer in the evening.

Before the revitalisation

This project is part of the Programme for the public space revitalization in Bratislava – Vivid Spaces. It is the first-ever framework for a systematic change of the public space of the capital on several levels. The scheme is implemented in cooperation with the capital city and the city districts.
