The public area at the intersection of Kazansk\u00e1 and \u010ciernovodsk\u00e1 streets in Vraku\u0148, through which many people pass daily to the health centre, has been transformed into a quality public space with a residential function, plenty of greenery and space for occasional markets. The area was originally in a neglected state, the paved areas were damaged, and there were trampled paths leading through the lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the revitalisation, the area was divided into two distinctive environments – an avenue and a park, which was created by transforming a grassy area with mature pine trees and serves for both residence and transit. The park is divided into two triangles, which is based on the diagonal movement of people passing through the area and thus shortening their journey from the main road to the housing estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project is part of the Programme for the public space revitalization in Bratislava \u2013 Vivid Spaces.<\/a> It is the first-ever framework for a systematic change of the public space of the capital on several levels. The aim of the project was to improve a neglected area in the middle of a housing estate into an attractive public space that is divided into two distinctive environments.
